Official National Address By Zambia Must Prosper President Mr. Kelvin Fube Bwalya
PRESS STATEMENT BY KELVIN FUBE BWALYA (KBF) President – Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP) Date: 08/09/2025 FEAR NOT, FELLOW ZAMBIANS – HOPE IS HERE Fellow Zambians, It breaks my heart to say this, but I must speak the truth. In 2021, I supported the current government with the sincere hope that the people of Zambia would finally enjoy peace, justice, and prosperity. But four years later, that hope has turned into deep disappointment. What we face now is a nation wounded by betrayal and burdened by economic and social suffering. Today, Zambia is battling silent wars poverty, broken trust, and despair. These battles are not in the headlines, but they are destroying lives. Our youth are disillusioned, our women are overburdened, and our families are breaking apart. These are the very people who believed in change. It is heartbreaking to witness those entrusted with power looting in the shadows, enriching themselves while ordinary citizens suffer. Constituency Development Funds (CDF), which are meant to uplift communities, are being politicized given mostly to UPND cadres in the name of development, while the structures being built are substandard. Meanwhile, the money being misused belongs to civil servants who are overtaxed and underpaid. Scandals are rampant across ministries especially in critical areas such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Lands, and Ministry of Agriculture. Medical procurement has become a scandalous business under this so-called "New Dawn" government. Yet, we have seen no decisive action taken against the perpetrators. This silence signals complicity at the highest levels of government. A government that begins to control and restrict media freedoms is a government running from accountability. The people are not blind. They are watching. They are hurting. And as President of Zambia Must Prosper, I assure you: hope is here. We will repeal oppressive laws such as the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act, and we will protect media houses to operate freely without fear or favor. There is a saying: "A man’s character is reflected in the company he keeps around him." The current leadership has revealed its true colours. Now, the Zambian people must decide: is this the kind of leadership we want to continue with? Let me speak plainly. In Mufumbwe, small-scale miners were shot, not protected, not guided but met with brutal force. That is not governance. That is fear-mongering. The rise in street junkies, teenage pregnancies, and gender-based violence is not by accident. It is a symptom of an economy that has failed. Parents can no longer budget. Families are under pressure. Yet those in government continue to live comfortably while the majority suffer silently. And I say this with a heavy heart: I once believed my late older brother, President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, led a government with significant flaws. But what we are experiencing now under this administration has made me realize that removing him from power was not the solution we believed it would be. To the Zambian people: I offer my sincere apology for supporting the current government in 2021. I truly believed we were doing the right thing. But the results have proven otherwise. To Mama Esther Lungu and the Lungu family, I also apologize for the indignity with which this government has handled the legacy and burial of my late brother. These are signs that our country has not yet healed and it must. To Mama Beatrice Lungu, I say: “Forgive the system that persecutes you.” But beyond forgiveness, now is the time to fix the system to rebuild what has been broken. Fellow Zambians, Zambia Must Prosper is not just a political party. It is a rescue mission. We are here to bring real change not based on tribe, not based on ethnicity, not based on region but based on merit. We will not allow poverty to define our destiny. We will allow the people’s problems to define our priorities. To our civil servants, I stand with you. You deserve better working conditions, better pay, and above all dignity. We will wipe out cadreism from the civil service. It has infiltrated service delivery and is denying essential services to the people who need them most. To the youth, to the mothers, to the miners, to the farmers we hear you. And unlike those currently in power who ignore your struggles. Let me be absolutely clear: Our natural resources must benefit every Zambian not a privileged few. Leadership must be about service, not control. Government must be about truth, not politics of lies. My name is Kelvin Fube Bwalya, and I am running for President of the Republic of Zambia in 2026. Let us rise together. Let us rebuild this country. Let us unite — because truly, Zambia Must Prosper.
