Deseret – the honeybee alphabet of the Mormons
The Deseret alphabet is an alternative alphabet for English developed by Mormons in the 1850s. The name Deseret is taken from a word in the Book of Mormon and means "honeybee". It reflects the Mormon use of the beehive as a symbol of Salt Lake City as a home of hard workers.
