L'impressionnisme dans l'école de de Pont Aven

September 1, 1978 "At one time, there were as many painters as there were inhabitants in Pont-Aven." Until September 17, Pont-Aven is the setting for an exhibition curated by Mr. and Mrs. Charles-Guy LE Paul, dedicated to the Impressionist movement in the Pont-Aven school. 120 paintings are on display, representing the works of 12 painters who grouped themselves around Paul Gauguin and Émile Bernard. The Impressionists strived above all to capture the truth of the coastal elements, to capture the eternity of things in a fleeting moment. The Impressionists are open-air painters, and whatever their style, we find in their works a common feeling for nature. They painted Brittany while avoiding anecdote, to see in it what is eternal.
