How Demon Slayer Fails its Female Characters
Within this video essay, I talk a bit about some of the female characters from hit anime series Demon Slayer, and why they aren't particularly good representation. The video doesn't include anything past the Hashira Training Arc, but I may make a second part to this next week once more people have seen the movies (I'm going to see it tonight :D), since there's some pretty interesting character development - if you know you know. Particularly, I wanted to talk about season 1-4, and the characters of Shinobu, Mitsuri and Nezuko, with some brief mentions of Uzui's wives, and some of the female demons too! Side note, I did totally forget to talk about Tamayo, I love her and she's a complete exception to the less than ideal writing with the other women in the show. I hope you enjoy! Feel free to comment your thoughts on the writing in Demon Slayer - I do love the show, I just wish they relied a little less on fanservice.
