Alliance, Ohio

Alliance is a city in Stark County, Ohio. Alliance was founded in1854 by the merger of three smaller communities. Alliance is the home of Ohio's state flower the Carnation. The city is known as The Carnation City which dates back to 1876 thanks to local doctor and horticulture, hobbyist Levi L. Lamborn who was personally responsible for promoting the cultivation of the carnation. University of Mount Union calls Alliance, Ohio home. Glamorgan Castle is a Historical landmark in Alliance. Built as a private residence in the early 1900's. Now the castle servers as the central administration building for Alliance.
