We're Back in Italy: Hiking the Alta Via 1 Sivan and I are back in our favorite country—Italy—for another unforgettable adventure. We kicked things off with a quick stop in Venice, a city that never gets old no matter how many times we visit. After soaking in the canals and culture, we made our way to the mountain town that feels like home: Cortina d’Ampezzo. The next morning, our journey truly began as we took a bus to Lago di Braies, the stunning emerald lake that marks the start of the legendary Alta Via 1. This iconic high-route stretches over 75 miles through the heart of the Dolomites, connecting a series of mountain rifugio (huts) and showcasing some of the most jaw-dropping alpine scenery in the world.
