In a slush fund scandal involving the former Abe faction of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the Tokyo District Court on the 23rd sentenced former Upper House member Yasumasa Ohno (67), who was charged with violating the Political Funds Control Act (false entries), to a fine of 600,000 yen (prosecution sought a fine of 1,500,000 yen). Former policy secretary Yoshiko Iwata (62) was fined 200,000 yen (prosecution sought a fine of 500,000 yen).
