Family Demands Answers After Grade 10 Student Dies Following Fight at Thika High School

A family is demanding answers following the tragic death of 16-year-old Mohamed Hare, a Grade 10 student at Thika High School, after a fight with a fellow student on Wednesday night. According to the school's Chief Principal, Julius Muraya, the two students were preparing for evening prayers when a disagreement escalated into a fight. Mohamed later collapsed, was rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital, and was pronounced dead while receiving treatment. Thika West Sub-county Police Commander John Kimanthi has confirmed that one student has been arrested and is being treated as the prime suspect as investigations continue. Speaking at General Kago Road Funeral Home Hospital - Thika, Mohamed's family expressed shock over his death and called for a thorough investigation to establish exactly what happened. His mother emotionally recalled receiving a late-night phone call from the school before rushing from Nairobi, only to find her son had already died. Police have launched investigations, while a post-mortem examination is expected to help determine the exact cause of Mohamed's death.
