Our E-Bikes Barely Survived This Louisiana Adventure

What started as a relaxing camping weekend in Louisiana quickly turned into a test of our e-bike batteries, our decision-making skills, and my eyesight. We set up camp at Fontainebleau State Park and hit the Tammany Trace for what seemed like a simple ride. Thirty-two miles later, we'd rolled through Mandeville, Abita Springs, and Covington, dealt with an unexpected bike repair, enjoyed a great lunch, and somehow turned a bike shop visit into a free beer at the Abita Brewing Company Tap Room. (Kelly went with the root beer. Somebody had to be responsible.) Then came the ride home. The farther we rode, the lower the batteries dropped. Suddenly every hill looked bigger, every mile felt longer, and battery percentages became the most important numbers in our lives. Would we make it back to camp under our own power? Honestly, it was getting questionable. Back at camp, things got much less stressful and much more delicious. Campfire fajitas, chicken for Kelly, tuna steaks for me, cold drinks, and one of the nicest campground atmospheres we've enjoyed in awhile. Oh, and because no MERV adventure is complete without at least one completely avoidable mistake, I accidentally sprayed bug spray directly into my eyes. So if you enjoy camping, e-bike adventures, battery anxiety, campfire cooking, Louisiana scenery, and watching me create problems for myself, this one's for you. #Camping #EBike #Louisiana #FontainebleauStatePark #TammanyTrace #BikeAdventure #RVLife #CampCooking #AbitaSprings #CovingtonLA #OutdoorAdventure #MERV #StateParkCamping #ElectricBike #TravelVlog #Abitabrewing
