Who was MARY JANE SEACOLE? | History of Nursing Part 3 | Nursing

MARY JANE SEACOLE can be considered to be an Unsung Hero, for the care she provided to her patients in Jamaica and Panama, and also to the soldiers she cared for during the Crimean War. In this video I am going to discuss and share about Mary Jane Seacole, but Who was MARY Jane SEACOLE? I have done a couple of videos on the history of Nursing. Part 1 was on The History of Nursing And Part 2 was about Florence Nightingale In this HISTORY OF NURSING, PART 3 it will be about Mary Jane Seacole. The Nursing profession evolved quite nicely, and is now recognized as one of the most respected professions, and as a profession, nursing is at the forefront of healthcare. So who was she...? She was a contemporary of Florence Nightengale. And although, through an account written by Mary Seacole herself…they did meet once…and this video is NOT to bring about a debate about these two women, as they both rightly have their place in history. There is some controversy, about whether or not she should have received recognition or not...but hopefully though this video, we can celebrate her and her human, caring spirit... positively.
