Amazing weekend by the Black Sea 🌊🚐Met inspiring travelers from England on a round-the-world journey
Vanlife in Georgia A new season — new encounters! Spring has truly arrived in Georgia. After a long, rainy winter, the weather has finally turned warm and sunny. And just like that, caravans of campers are heading toward the sea. Georgia’s coastline stretches for more than 200 km, from Batumi in the south to Anaklia in the north. It’s a perfect playground for vanlifers searching for scenic spots to camp or spend the night by the sea. There are well-known locations among caravan travelers, such as Gonio and Kobuleti, as well as hundreds of “secret” campsites favored by local vanlife enthusiasts. Today, we’d like to tell you about one such cozy place, tucked away in the seaside village of Chakvi. It has become a favorite spot for picnics and short weekend getaways. Almost in the center of the village, near the bridge, you turn right onto an unassuming asphalt road and pass through a quiet residential area toward the sea. The road is in great condition — about 500 meters, and suddenly you find yourself completely alone. Well, almost — apart from cows and local dogs, which, in Georgia, seem to be everywhere you stop :) And then you arrive at a vast beach with soft sand and fairly comfortable pebbles. Pine trees grow nearby, and the Batumi Botanical Garden is just around the corner. The view of Batumi from this part of the coast is absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset. Of course, our weekend started with an adventure that made the whole trip unforgettable. A friend of ours, new to caravaning, got stuck in the sand almost immediately — and we couldn’t pull him out on our own. Luckily, help came from fellow travelers from the UK. Not far from us, we spotted an impressive expedition truck that looked more than capable of handling the situation. That’s how we met a wonderful couple, Colin and Liz, who kindly helped pull our Knaus out of its sandy trap. They turned out to be incredibly friendly, and as it often happens in the vanlife community, the conversation quickly flowed: “What’s this? How did you build that? How many batteries do you have? What’s your water capacity?” Their vehicle, affectionately named Lolly, is a fully equipped 4x4 expedition truck built for a round-the-world journey they began this winter from the UK. It features differential locks, a central locking system, an electric winch, solar panels, and a full Victron Energy electrical setup. Inside, it has everything needed for comfortable long-term travel — a kitchen, shower, toilet, and a cozy living space. They’re also traveling with four bicycles: two folding bikes easily accessible outside, and two more stored in a dedicated rear garage with an electric sliding mechanism. What truly stands out is the sense of space inside the vehicle. Large panoramic roof hatches and a huge openable window create a feeling of complete freedom. Sitting at the table, you just open it — and in front of you unfolds a living, endless landscape. Wherever you stop, you always have your own private panoramic view right from your home. At the moment, the crew of Lolly has been on the road for over two months, traveling through several European countries — Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, then Turkey — before arriving in Georgia, where we met on the shores of the Black Sea ❤️ And this is only the beginning of their journey. Ahead lie Armenia, Russia, Mongolia, China, many countries across Asia, and later Brazil, Canada, the USA, and eventually a return to the UK. We highly recommend following their blog — it’s a warm and honest account of their adventures on the road. Caravaning is not just a way to travel — it’s a philosophy of freedom and openness to the world. On the road, you don’t just discover new places, but also meet people who, like you, have chosen a life of adventure. Very often, these encounters become the most valuable part of the journey — filled with real stories, shared experiences, and genuine эмоции. See you on the roads of Georgia!
