Exotic but also quite hardy Bottlebrush plants tips for success

Roger and his 'beloved' have enjoyed their hardy Bottlebrush plant (Callistemon Rigidus) outside in the exposed welsh hillside garden for around 20 years - we see it in summer in full flower. The flowers on this variety are a rich red (with maybe a hint of pink), there are some other flower colours available (yellow, white and and shades of Pink / red) but Roger finds that this is the hardiest variety he has grown - and has coped with occasional winter temperatures of well below freezing ...maybe as slow as - 8 degrees celsius. The well drained soil in this part of the garden can help tender plants like this cope with the colder weather overwinter.
