BCSDA EXCHANGE | Net Zero Standards, ISSB Training and China Climate Policy | July 2026

The July 2026 edition of BCSDA EXCHANGE brought together three practical updates for Australian businesses navigating climate claims, sustainability reporting and international carbon-policy developments. Rob Cawthorne, Managing Director of the Carbon Reduction Institute, marked CRI’s return to BCSDA membership and introduced the new NoCO2 Net Zero Standard. Rob explained how the framework addresses inventory completeness, credible net-zero claims, supply-specific emissions factors, required interventions before offsetting and the assessment of clean alternatives. Marian Gruber of ZOOiD discussed ZOOiD’s appointment as an Australian IFRS/ISSB Training Partner. The forthcoming two-day program is designed to build practical capability in IFRS S1 and S2, including governance, strategy, risk management, metrics and professional judgments. ZOOiD is also developing Australian localisation content, and BCSDA members will receive a 10% discount on the training. Anthony Coles provided a briefing on China’s developing product-carbon-footprint requirements and their implications for Australian exporters. He also outlined the September Wuhan conference focusing on biodiversity, carbon markets, zero-carbon industrial development and international collaboration. BCSDA is planning a joint workshop with CRI later in 2026 to explore the NoCO2 Standard in greater detail. This recording is provided for information and member education.
