🟢LEARN EXCEL WITH ME IN THE COMPLETE EXCEL COURSE WITH CERTIFICATE: http://excelentejoao.com.br/sejaexcel... 🔵FREE EXCEL SPREADSHEET DOWNLOAD: https://excelentejoao.com.br/wp-conte... In this free Excel video lesson, we will learn how to calculate percentages in Excel. Percentage of the Total, Percentage between two values, Percentage Increase, Percentage Discount. 1. How to calculate percentages What is a percentage? A percentage is a fraction of 100. The symbol "%" represents "divided by 100". Example: 25% = 25/100 = 0.25 In Excel, when we type 25%, it automatically understands it as 0.25. 2. Percentage of Total If we want to know how much a value represents in relation to a total, we use: =Part/Total Why this formula? Because dividing a part by the total gives the fraction of the total that that value represents. Mathematical example: If a salesperson sold R$2,000 and the company earned R$10,000: 2000/10000 = 0.2 = 20% This means that this salesperson made 20% of the total sales. 3. Percentage between two values (Percentage Variation) If we want to know how much a value increased or decreased in relation to another, we use: (New Value - Old Value) / Old Value Why this formula? 1. (New Value - Old Value) = This gives us the difference between the values. 2. Divide by the Old Value = This shows how much this variation represents in relation to the original value. Mathematical example: If a product cost R$50 and now costs R$70: (70-50)/50 = 20/50 = 0.4 = 40% This means that the price has increased by 40% compared to the original value. 4. Percentage Increase If we want to increase a value by a certain percentage, we use: Final Value = Original Value x (1 + Percentage) Why this formula? 1. The percentage is a fraction of the original value. 2. 1 represents the whole value and we add the percentage to get the new value. Mathematical example: If a product costs R$ 100 and increases by 15%: 100 × (1 + 0.15) = 100 × 1.15 = 115 The new price will be R$ 115. 5. Discount by Percentage If we want to reduce a value by a certain percentage, we use: Final Value = Original Value × (1 − Percentage) Why this formula? The 1 represents the whole value. Subtracting the percentage leaves only the part of the value that was not discounted. Mathematical example: If a product costs R$ 200 and has a 25% discount: 200 × (1 − 0.25) = 200 × 0.75 = 150 The new price will be R$ 150. #ExcelenteJoão #Excel #Dashboard
