Brachial Plexus Injury
Brachial plexus injuries affect the brachial plexus nerves and can happen during birth. The brachial plexus is a group of nerves between the neck and the shoulder that give arms their movement and feeling. Gone untreated, a newborn brachial plexus injury can negatively affect the child’s development. In addition to occurring during birth, people can have a brachial plexus nerve injury at any age. The injury can lead to brachial plexus palsy, which affects arm and shoulder movement. There are many different types of brachial plexus treatment, which can include things like a cast, physical therapy or brachial plexus nerve surgery.
