💻 Need a better laptop? Get a used (good quality) Lenovo Thinkpad T14 gen 1 AMD Ryzen 5 Pro

This is a quick look at the Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 1 with AMD Ryzen 5 Pro CPU and 32 GB of memory. I paid approximately £200 for the laptop, £45 ish for the stick of ram to add to it and another approx £45 for a better health battery (though the battery it came with was still 91% health!) If you are looking for a laptop and you do not need cutting edge but is fast and capable, getting a modern Thinkpad is always the best option. Mine is from 2021. This has a 6 core processor, dual channel RAM and NVME drive. It is incredibly snappy running Microsoft Windows 11. Can you identify the version of Windows's startup sound I chose? 🤣 If you buy a brand new, current cheap system for £200 to £300 you will get a very budget system with poor quality build, poor quality specs and poor quality components. A Thinkpad is built for big corporations. It has to survive the rigours of daily life. Drops, spills, dusty environments, have high quality parts etc. If you buy a used Thinkpad like this T14 Gen 1 with a Ryzen CPU, you are getting a vastly superior laptop, that just happens to not be new. Important considerations... Always ensure the laptop is in good and usable condition. ALWAYS ensure (ASK if you need to) that there is no supervisor password installed on the bios and ensure that the corporate tracking/control bios features like Computrace and Absolute Persistence are either disabled or not activated. These two corporate features are what allows big corporations to make their laptops self-destruct if stolen, to turn them into paperweights. Mine had Absolute Persistence enabled but not activated, meaning it was available to be used but had not been activated, so when I received the laptop I set it to PERMANENTLY disabled to ensure it could never be used. If someone steals a laptop and tries to sell it, if it has responsibly had a supervisor password put on the bios, it means they do not know it. That means your laptop has limits and if you ever had to reinstall windows, you might not be able to boot from USB to install fresh. Only accept a Thinkpad with no Supervisor password and no Computrace or Absolute Persistence. All in all, a thinkpad is a high quality laptop. When this particular laptop came out, it probably cost £1000 or more (and it's from 1 year after COVID, so it's not that long ago...). Highly recommended!
