EA Debate: Solving Rwanda's unemployment problem
Unemployment rate in Rwanda stood at 13.2 per cent in February 2016. The Ministry of Public Service and Labour, together with other 18 stakeholders, launched a month-long awareness campaign through National Employment Programme (NEP) which is well in line with government's Vision 2020 of moving towards productive off-farm jobs to reach the ambitious targets for poverty reduction. The Rwandan government says it is reviewing the education curriculum to deal with concerns raised by the labour market. It is with this understanding that CNBC Africa seeks to interrogate Rwanda's Labour market and how to curb unemployment especially amongst women and youth.
