Exposing Magnolia Pearl: From Poverty Core to Cultural Appropriation

After seeing a handful of TikToks with clothing from Magnolia Pearl, I decided to do a deep dive on the brand and the creator, Robin Brown. Robin's new book brought me to tears multiple times. Hearing her speak about her life gave me so much inspiration and hope for mine but some things about her brand do not sit right with me. I do not think she is glamouring "poverty-core" but I am not sure if there is a "right way" to use Indigenous figures in clothing design. Even though she does donate a lot of money to charity, I think it is a complicated topic. Also, the planation collection is beyond horrible.
