#dineshkanji #indiabangladesh #gangajalwatertreaty पाकिस्तानच्या अनुभवावरून शिकण्याची बांगलादेशला संधी होती. ही संधी बांगलादेशने गमावलेली दिसते. भारताशी वाकडे घेतल्यानंतर पाकिस्तानचे नेते सध्या पाणी पाणी करतायत. हीच वेळ उद्या बांगलादेशवर येणार अशी चिन्हे आहेत. ‘भारताने बांगलादेशला अनुकूल असा जल वाटप करार करावा म्हणून त्यांना एक चांगली ऑफर द्या’ असा सल्ला डॉ.नझरूल इस्लाम या बांगलादेशी तज्ज्ञाने पंतप्रधान तारीक रेहमान यांना दिला होता. रेहमान यांनी ही ऑफर दिली मात्र, भारताला नाही चीनला. ही ऑफर भारताच्या नाकात काडी करणारी आहे. बांगलादेश पायावर धोंडा मारण्यासाठी उत्सूक असल्याचे चित्र सध्या तरी दिसते आहे. बांगलादेशचे पंतप्रधान तारिक रहमान यांनी सार्वत्रिक निवडणुकीनंतरचा पहीला दौरा चीनचा केला. या दौऱ्यात उभय देशांमध्ये अनेक महत्त्वपूर्ण करार झाले आहेत. यात तिस्ता नदीशी संबंधित कराराचा समावेश आहे. चीनने 'तीस्ता नदी व्यापक व्यवस्थापन आणि पुनर्संचयन प्रकल्पासाठी' बांगलादेशला आर्थिक आणि तांत्रिक मदत देण्याचे जाहीर केले आहे. चीनचे तज्ज्ञ या प्रकल्पाच्या व्यवहार्यतेचा वेगवान अभ्यास करणार आहेत. चीनच्या 'बेल्ट अँड रोड' उपक्रमांतर्गत दोन्ही देशांनी एकूण १७ द्विपक्षीय करारांवर स्वाक्षऱ्या केल्या आहेत. यामध्ये प्रामुख्याने, बांगलादेशच्या मोन्गला बंदराचा विस्तार आणि आधुनिकीकरणाचा समावेश आहे. चितगाव येथे विशेष चीनी आर्थिक आणि औद्योगिक क्षेत्राचा विकास केला जाईल. भारताची दुखरी नस मानल्या जाणाऱ्या सिलिगुडी कॉरीडोअरच्या जवळ बांगलादेशचा तिस्ता प्रकल्प आहे. भारताच्या शत्रूला बांगलादेशची भूमी आणि समुद्र वापरण्याचा मुक्त परवाना बांगलादेश देतो आहे. तरीही भारताने त्यांच्याशी न्यायपूर्ण व्यवहार करावा अशी त्यांची अपेक्षा आहे. Bangladesh had an opportunity to learn from Pakistan's experience, but it appears to have squandered it. After taking an adversarial stance against India, Pakistan's leaders are now struggling with the consequences. There are growing signs that Bangladesh could face a similar situation in the future. Bangladeshi expert Dr. Nazrul Islam had advised Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to make India a constructive offer so that New Delhi would be willing to negotiate a more favorable water-sharing agreement for Bangladesh. Rahman did make an offer—but not to India. Instead, he turned to China. This move is widely seen as one that challenges India's strategic interests. At present, Bangladesh appears determined to pursue a path that could ultimately prove detrimental to its own long-term interests. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman chose China as his first foreign destination after the general elections. During the visit, the two countries signed several significant agreements, including one related to the Teesta River. China announced that it would provide financial and technical assistance for the Teesta River Comprehensive Management and Restoration Project, with Chinese experts set to conduct an accelerated feasibility study. Under China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Bangladesh and China signed a total of 17 bilateral agreements. These include the expansion and modernization of Mongla Port, as well as the development of a Chinese Special Economic and Industrial Zone in Chittagong. The Teesta project is located close to the Siliguri Corridor, often described as one of India's most strategically sensitive regions. By allowing one of India's principal strategic rivals greater access to its territory and maritime infrastructure, Bangladesh is effectively opening its land and sea to China.
