The Psychology of Forbidden Cyrodiil
#elderscrolls #morrowind #bethesda #rpg #gaming Today's video is a personal reflection on Project Cyrodiil's "Abecean Shores". For a while, I've been trying to figure out what makes this map so fascinating and nostalgic to me. I took down several notes and expanded them into this brief video essay. The focus is on the concept of "Forbidden Cyrodiil": the one created by the fan community, as opposed to the official one seen in Elder Scrolls 4. This video is NOT about which version of Cyrodiil is better/superior. --- My Old Lore Videos: "Why Old Lore Cyrodiil is the best Cyrodiil": • Why Old Lore Cyrodiil is best Cyrodiil | I... Add to this my little idea on the Nerevarine's secret cult forming somewhere in the Cyrodiilic eastern jungles. *15min 55sec Great Moravia is indeed obscure, and even its location isn't quite determined, so I said it occupied southeastern/south-central Europe. The relation between Saint Rastislav and Rislav is my pure conjecture. I just think that the rugged Balkan/Carpathian region fits well into the Colovian frontier landscape, besides the Mediterranean, of course. *23min 47sec "primal comfort and poetic hyper-realism" - I was again inspired by Novalis and his magical idealism in a very, very loose term. A form of a romanticized reality of the Forbidden Cyrodiil, drenched in perpetual haziness or "golden hour." "Mythopoetic aspect" refers to Project Tamriel's gradual recreation of Tamriel and its neomythology. Primal comfort/primeval savannah/paradise garden - I was loosely referencing the evolutionary savannah hypothesis in relation to psychological appeals of Strident Coast's golden grasslands, but I really don't want to go that far. ----- Music: Chris Zabriskie - Oxygen Garden Chris Zabriskie - To Hide Their Secrets Chris Zabriskie - Stories about the World That Was Chris Zabriskie - Cylinder 5 Chris Zabriskie - Cylinder 9 Jeremy Soule - Autumn Forest Palette (Skyrim OST)
