"The Texas Rangers - First to advance, last to retreat" Tales of the Texas Rangers, is a western adventure old-time radio drama which ran from July 8, 1950 until September 14, 1952, on the NBC radio network. The show was modeled after the very successful Dragnet program of the time. Movie star Joel McCrea starred as Texas Ranger Jayce Pearson, who used the latest scientific techniques to identify the criminals to track them down. The show was actually a police drama with reenactments of actual Texas Ranger cases that had occurred in Texas between 1928 to 1948. The series was produced and directed by Stacy Keach, Sr., and was sponsored for part of its run by Wheaties.
