The hand is the crucial element for humanoid robots—and a Norwegian startup called 1X is currently demonstrating just how far the competition has come. Building Lego, screwing in lightbulbs, zipping up jackets, pouring tea, picking up tiny screws—all with 25 degrees of freedom and genuine dexterity. Backed by OpenAI and Nvidia, 10,000 pre-orders sold out in five days, with the first deliveries expected this year. What does Tesla have to offer in comparison? Nothing yet—and that's by design. Those who have already seen the Tesla hand are calling it something special. And while 1X dreams of 100,000 units starting in 2027, Tesla is currently building factories for one to ten million robots per year. That's the decisive difference: not the demo, but the scaling. In other news: Tesla is now rolling out FSD 14 Lite in South Korea—but only for US-made vehicles, thanks to a trade agreement. Around 55,000 vehicles are eligible. All others, meaning the majority of Teslas registered in Korea from Shanghai, require national approval. Perhaps in 2027.
