Preserved, Not Polished: the Ducati 350 Desmo ‘Relic’ Restoration
Preserved, Not Polished: the Ducati 350 Desmo ‘Relic’ Restoration Most of our restorations aim to rewind the clock, but this one tells a different story. In our latest project, we take on a 1974 Ducati 350 Desmo, but instead of restoring it to factory-fresh perfection, we’ve chosen a new path. This bike has been meticulously rebuilt not to erase its age, but to honor its 50-year journey. Using a unique ‘relic restoration’ technique developed in-house, we've carefully aged components to reflect decades of use — all while ensuring it's mechanically sound and road-ready. The engine top-end and all of the mechanical systems have been fully rebuilt to ensure reliability, but rather than polishing everything to perfection, we focused on developing subtle, period-correct signs of wear; a look that suggests the bike has been well ridden and well cared for over the years. Every part was approached with care to maintain authenticity and visual history. What do you think? Would you take the factory-fresh route? Or embrace the wear and stories like we did here?
