President Sadyr Japarov announced the State Mortgage Company's plans to begin building multi-story buildings in villages and small towns across Kyrgyzstan. As he stated at a meeting with residents of the Jumgal district, while housing under the State Mortgage Company was previously built in Bishkek, Osh, and the centers of seven regions, the program will now extend to districts, as well as 33 small towns and villages. "In the cities, we've half-solved the housing issue, but in the villages, people can't wait any longer. Therefore, we just had a discussion about this in the akim's office. I've given the order. Here (the village of Ornok) there are two hectares of land in the district center. We'll build five- or nine-story buildings on this site—we'll see how the soil conditions are," the president said. He also explained that the land allocation system (үлүш) doesn't provide housing for everyone in need. "If there are 500 people on the waiting list in a village, and we distribute land plots, only 50 will receive it. The remaining 450 will be left without land," the head of state noted. According to Sadyr Japarov, the country's population will grow in the future, so it is necessary to develop multi-story construction. "In 10-20 years, our population will grow even more. Young people will emerge who will also need land. Therefore, we need to go up, not out," he added. The president announced that construction of multi-story buildings has already begun in Alay, in Gulcha. According to him, conditions in these communities are suitable for the construction of nine-story buildings. "Construction of a nine-story building is currently underway in Gulcha on a plot of approximately three hectares. We will be able to house 3,000 people on three hectares of land. If we simply distributed plots for private homes, only about 50 families would be able to move in," Sadyr Japarov said.
