SOLD: 1955 Sunbeam Alpine Series One Roadster, CA

Sold was a extremely rare 1955 Sunbeam Alpine Series One Roadster. This car is identical to the Grace Kelly/Cary Grant vehicle as seen in the iconic Alfred Hitchcock movie, TO CATCH A THIEF. With less than 600 miles since completion, the vehicle received a complete body-off-frame rotisserie restoration by marque expert David Wittmer. (Photos of the entire process comes with this sale). Final tuning and sorting was accomplished by Frank McLain & Sons. The car was originally designed by the renowned industrial designer Raymond Lowey. Mr. Lowey also designed the original Coca Cola bottle for the firm plus other remarkable items. The owner informs me that only 1200 of this model were manufactured….with maybe only 200 examples known to exist today. The car sports beautiful Sapphire Blue exterior paint with genuine Fawn Leather color interior upholstery. Attention to detail and pride of ownership is evident. The vehicle runs the stock four-cylinder 2267cc engine matched to an upgraded five-speed manual transmission. As an added plus, the vehicle has it's own income generating talent agent in Los Angeles, CA. It was recently featured with actress Drew Barrymore in a full-spread photo-shoot for IN-STYLE Magazine, October 2013. It also garnered an eight-page full color article in the October 2013 issue of MOTOR TREND CLASSIC MAGAZINE titled "To Catch an Alpine". If you are seeking an investment quality English open-car with rarity, style and provenance, you have located your vehicle. I believe whoever wins this vehicle will be thrilled.
