RC Airplane Telemetry for Newbies In this video I will join my colleague, Ron, to discuss the important elements of RC airplane telemetry for newbies. Ron is an electronics engineer who works with satellite communications so he is an ideal source of useful information for any presentation on telemetry. In addition Ron is a master builder of radio control model aircraft. Telemetry is the automatic recording and transmission of data from remote or inaccessible sources to an IT system in a different location. In the case of our RC model aircraft, the telemetry systems on board the aircraft can collect various forms of data (airspeed, altitude, engine temperature, battery capacity, etc.) and transmit that to your transmitter. After a flight, it is very easy to transfer this data to a home computer and analyze what was going on during your flight. Note that telemetry applies to all forms of RC aircraft to include drones. As Ron points out a study of telemetry is incredibly useful to determine what might have gone wrong with your RC airplane in the event of a crash.
