Fourth of July event organizers share how they are handling the heat before festivities kick off

As thousands of people prepare to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks across South Central Pennsylvania, organizers at one of the region's largest events are reminding attendees to make heat safety part of their plans. The Barn at Paradise Station in Paradise Township is hosting its annual event this year, themed "Celebrate America 250," a patriotic concert and fireworks on Friday evening. The event combines live patriotic music, food vendors, family activities and a large fireworks display on a property that organizers say is deeply rooted in American history. The venue sits near the historic William Penn land grant and includes property that dates back to 1790. Organizers said this year's event also celebrates America's 250th anniversary by incorporating historical elements, including a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence and partnerships with local historical organizations.
