“銭湯2.0” 伝統と革新をつなぐ三段ボナサウナ【明司湯】

This time, we visited a public bath sauna in Kita Ward, Kyoto City. Akejiyu, a former public bathhouse that reopened in a new look while retaining some of its Showa-era charm, removing the barrier between men and women, creating a spacious and open space. The bathroom has new tiles for a stylish atmosphere, and the water is softened using a water softener, making it gentle on the skin. The sauna is a humid sauna with steam every 10 minutes. Divided into three areas: the swing area (high temperature), the slumber area (medium temperature), and the cross-legged area (low temperature), each offering a different experience, allowing you to find a spot that suits you best. A space where time flows at a leisurely pace, blending retro and modern. After the sauna, we headed to nearby SARASA Nishijin for some food. Also renovated from a public bathhouse, the interior has a distinctive tiled finish and an antique feel. Their specialty, Turkish rice, is hearty and will satisfy both your stomach and your soul!
