There's been a change in plans! l Cutting 6x6 posts

Sometimes the best plans are the ones you never expected. In this episode of Bearded Lumber, there's been a change in plans, and that means it's time to head back to the sawmill and start cutting 6x6 posts for our growing shop addition. Every construction project evolves as it comes together. As new ideas take shape and the project progresses, it's not uncommon to adjust the original plan to create something even better. That's exactly what happened with our newest addition, and now it's time to mill the heavy timbers needed to keep the project moving forward. Using our sawmill, we cut rough-cut 6x6 posts that will become an important part of the structure. Producing your own timbers is one of the biggest advantages of owning a sawmill. Instead of purchasing expensive dimensional lumber, we can custom mill each post to the exact size and length needed while making the most of every log. There's something incredibly satisfying about taking a raw log and transforming it into structural lumber that will become part of a permanent building. Every pass through the mill brings the project one step closer to reality, and every timber tells part of the story of this shop expansion. At Bearded Lumber, we believe in doing as much of the work ourselves as possible. From selecting logs and milling lumber to pouring concrete, constructing buildings, and continually improving the property, we're building more than a sawmill. We're building a place that will support the business for years to come. Whether you're interested in portable sawmills, timber framing, rough-cut lumber, woodworking, shop construction, post and beam building, or simply enjoy watching large logs become usable lumber, this video offers another behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to grow a working sawmill. As this addition continues to come together, you'll be able to follow every stage of the build, from raw timber to the finished structure. We're excited to have you along for the journey.
