Classic Western Thrash!! Class 52 and more at the SVR, 27/6/26

Hello everyone and welcome to a new video. I've got a bit of a different video to share with you today. Last Saturday (27/6/26) I visited the Severn Valley Railway for their 'Step back to the 40's weekend'. I have been wanting to visit the SVR's 40s events for some time as I love going to 40's events and so finally made it to this years. This event ran on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June and the 4th and 5th of July. The original plan for this event was to have several steam locomotives running the services as prototypical to the era. However, in the week up to this weekend, parts of the UK were hit with a large heatwave, with temperatures as high as 36c. Due to this, the SVR decided to err on the side of caution and reduce the number of steam locos to 2 and alter the lineup to feature 3 diesels to reduce the risk of lineside fires. Although these weren't accurate to the time period, health and safety comes first and in my opinion, they made the right call. The following day they did change the lineup to feature 3 steam locos. The locos that were operating were: BR Class 52 'Western' no.D1062 'Western Courier' BR Class 35 'Hymek' no.D7018 BR Class 20 no.20048 LMS Stanier Mogul no.13268 GWR 4900/49xx Castle Class no.4930 'Hagley Hall' At each of the different stations there were various different displays, musical performances and stalls/tents selling 40's themed items, so we managed to get off at all the stations that had displays to look at. We spent most of the day riding behind 'Western Courier', hence the title. This wasn't planned, it was just a coincidence that whenever we boarded throughout the day, Western Courier was the next loco. However, we did manage to ride behind the other locos that were running except for 20048 but I was able to get a shot of it so this video does also feature clips of all the other locos that were running. I do hope you enjoy this video, if you do, then please consider leaving a like and also consider subscribing as I am so close to 100. Until the next video though, look after yourselves and I shall see you down the line very soon for a new railwaying adventure.
