North Andaman Tour | Diglipur | Kalipur & Lamiya Bay Beach | Turtle Nesting | Ross & Smith Islands Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also home to thousands of turtles during their nesting period. During the winter months of Dec/Jan and february, turtle nesting takes place in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Turtle Nesting takes place at Kalipur beach, Lamiya Bay Beach and Ramanagar Beach atDiglipur. There are facilities provided by Forest Department, for Turtle Nesting at Kalipur Beach, Lamiya Bay Beach. How to Reach: By Air The Veer Savarkar Airport, an International Airport is located in the capital town of Port Blair, the gateway to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Port Blair, is connected with Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi by air. Air India, Jet Airways, Jet lite, Go Air & Spice Jet Airlines operate regular flights. By Train No Train facilities available By Road Regular Bus Services both government and private are available from Port Blair to Diglipur via ATR. Ross & Smith islands : These are actually two islands – Ross & Smith joined together by a sand bar to make a single group of islands. Ross & Smith Islands requires forest permit from the Forest Office at Diglipur and can be obtained on all days (except Sunday) between 6am to 2pm. A fisherman’s boat (‘dinghi’ in hindi) or a speed boat can be hired and the ride would take around 25 mins from the Ariel Bay Jetty in Diglipur.
