Shade Sail and Mesh Tarp DIY - Cheap and Redneck Approved!

Use common sense and remember that safety should always be the primary concern. This video follows a cheap and budget friendly shade sail DIY project you might complete in your backyard. Build and assembled with 'off-the-shelf' parts and tools from Harbor Freight, Lowes, and Home Depot. Throughout the video I explain the plan as well as give you the what and where to find most things used in this project. Three separate mesh tarps are used in this project to produce a shaded area large enough for children to play under in the harsh heat of the desert. Each mesh tarp measuring 12x20 for a total shaded area of 20x36 feet. The shade sail mesh is secured to the back cinder block wall with masonry bolts and suspended by a spanning 36 foot cable between the home and a 10 foot tall, concrete filled pole. After the project was completed, an extra support cable was added to help reinforce and support the concrete post. The spanning cable was woven through the riveted holes of the mesh tarps and zip ties were added every foot for added security and aesthetics. Benefits of shaded realestate. Primarily, as the wind blows, it passes through the mesh struckture and reduces any resistance or 'parachuting' you would likely see from a traditional tarp.
