Say What? Slang is More Than “Being Hip” | Dr. Sarah Strom Kays | TEDxElmhurstUniversity

Slang is more than fun, it is an important language adaptation. Slang is generational. However, it isn’t necessary to know the latest terms in order to see its potential. As a professor of communication, I share the key components of slang as a language adaptation which we can all understand. Now that’s lit! Sarah Strom Kays is a professor of Communication at Elmhurst University. In addition to seeing the benefits of slang, she also works with organizations to figure out how to improve communicative processes and practices. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
