La Espinita 5.13c

La Espinita is a 5.13c / 8a+ in Zona 12 at La Mojarra, Colombia. This was a medium-length project for me. I spent a couple weeks actually projecting it, but I had also belayed a friend on it for about a month before that, so I learned a lot of the movement through his process. Once I started trying it myself, the main work was figuring out how the moves felt for my body and adjusting a few pieces of beta that worked better for me. The route is really flowy, with two distinct boulder problems separated by fun, engaging climbing. The crux for me was the second boulder problem near the top: a sequence of crimps that requires a lot of contact strength to keep moving through. This is an uncut send video after a lot of practice, so the beta is pretty refined.
