Kharkiv is a beautiful city in eastern Ukraine. This is our second trip to this metropolis. Unfortunately, the city lies near the Russian border, so it is a frequent target of attacks. This is unfortunately reflected in the landscape. On the other hand – for such a large city – it is incredibly charming. Architecturally, like a lens, it captures the entire history of the 20th century. During a walk, you can admire gems of pre-war constructionism, modern skyscrapers, and socialist realist architecture. Kharkiv can also be particularly interesting for Poles due to its difficult history. A cemetery of Polish officers is located here (older viewers may remember the famous visit of the Polish president in 1999 and his sore shin). Additionally, until recently, the Poznań cinema operated here, highlighting the long-standing connection between the two cities. Of course, we recommend waiting until the situation calms down before making a trip.
