During my 34 days in Chiang Mai, I moved accommodations once. My first accommodation was PT Residence in Nimmanhaemin, and this time, I moved to Astra Sky River in Chang Khlan. While both accommodations have clear pros and cons, I would recommend Astra Sky River without a second thought, especially if you're a relatively long-term traveler, staying for two weeks or more. I didn't recommend Nimmanhaemin because I had such a difficult time staying there.
