Stainforth Force is a charming little waterfall on the River Ribble near Settle in North Yorkshire

Historic and highly popular series of natural limestone cascades. Located on the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, North Yorkshire, England. Situated just north of the market town of Settle and west of Stainforth village, it is famous for its picturesque 17th-century packhorse bridge and seasonal salmon migration. During autumn (typically October), visitors gather on the rocky banks to watch massive Atlantic salmon leap up the 2.5-metre cascades to reach their upstream spawning grounds. In summer, Stainforth Force is a lovely spot for a picnic or a paddle in the river. The broad, deep plunge pool beneath the main lower waterfall is a famous spot for swimming and jump off the limestone rock ledges. After any heavy storms the falls are extremely dangerous
