Karnataka HC ANGRY On Kamal Haasan Over Kannada Remark | ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ನಿಮಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ? ಜಡ್ಜ್​​ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಕಮಲ್ ತಬ್ಬಿಬ್ಬು The Karnataka High Court has postponed the hearing on Kamal Haasan’s plea regarding the release of his upcoming film Thug Life, which has been mired in controversy following his recent comments on the Kannada language. The court has not yet delivered a verdict, and the issue remains unresolved. The controversy erupted after Kamal Haasan, during the audio launch of Thug Life on May 24, remarked that “Kannada was born out of Tamil,” sparking widespread outrage across Karnataka. In response, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) threatened to stall the film’s release unless Haasan offered a public apology. However, Haasan refused to apologize, clarifying that his intention was to highlight cultural unity and mutual respect between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Amid rising tension, Haasan’s production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, moved the Karnataka High Court seeking protection from any obstruction by local authorities, including the police and film organizations. The petition also urged the court to ensure sufficient security for theaters screening the movie to maintain law and order. As of now, the High Court has adjourned the matter, and a new hearing date is awaited.
