University of the Arts Helsinki - Sibelius Academy presents: Dream Team - Senja Rummukainen & Sirja Nironen, cello Finalists and laureates of the biggest cello competitions in the world, Senja Rummukainen and Sirja Nironen gather for a once-in-a-lifetime recital, accompanied by the great pianists Mariko Furukawa and Valeria Resjan. We are happy that these two young representatives of the Finnish cello school and world-class cellists decided to join forces for this opportunity. From Bridge and Kokkonen to Menotti, they invite you into a powerful musical evening. CelloFest is the first ever International Cello Festival in Finland and its first edition took place in Helsinki, from 1st to 7th of February 2019. The festival is developed by Martti Rousi – a cello professor at the Sibelius Academy – and the French cellist Laura Martin, in collaboration with the Sibelius Academy. “Cello is the most beloved solo instrument among music lovers, this has been confirmed by many opinion polls.
