Famous Schindler Port (Fmr Miconic 10) Elevators at New York Marriott Marquis, New York City NY

Filmed on 8/26/2022, Well here they are, the most famous elevators in the entire elevator community! The Marriott Marquis in New York City. Famous for it's former Miconic 10 destination dispatch system. I did ride them back in April of 2018 when the Miconic 10s were still original. Schindler modernized them back in 2019 with their Port system. These elevators overall are still a lot of fun to ride and they are extremely fast! For those that don't know, the reason these became so famous was because of how unique these elevators were with the certain floors they served, the numerous glitches the Miconic 10 system had, and the fact that they were just fun to ride. These probably showcased Schindler's Miconic 10 system better than any other installation considering how much traffic these elevators would see on a daily basis. For those that are not familiar with Destination Dispatch systems, rather than selecting your floor inside the elevator, you can use the keypad outside the elevator to select floor. By doing so, the system assigns you an elevator car. I was assigned G at the start of the video. After being assigned a car, the rider finds that elevator car and waits for the doors to open. Upon entering the elevator, only door controls, alarm bell and emergency phone are inside since the rider has already selected their floor. The elevator will then proceed to the floor after the doors close.
