Michel Sardou and Eddy Mitchell were the image of two old friends in the world of French music. Iconic duets, fits of laughter on television, decades of camaraderie in the spotlight. But behind the smiles and hugs, the reality was much more tense… and much more bitter. For years, the two legends had been exchanging barbs from afar. Scathing remarks, mocking comments about farewell tours, veiled settling of scores… Their relationship increasingly resembled a cold war between two icons incapable of understanding each other. Everything truly exploded in 2018 when Michel Sardou publicly called Eddy Mitchell and Johnny Hallyday “big liars” after their fake farewells from the stage.
