3 Ways You can Destroy an ESC - Maximize ESC Life
Learn how to maximize the lifespan of your ESC. All you need to do is avoid these 3 ways that you can destroy an ESC. We are not just talking about the more obvious, "do not exceed maximum continuous current." ESC - Electronic Speed Control. Do not exceed the maximum temperature of the ESC. A typical rule of thumb is 140F or 60C. ESC manufactures may place a more specific range, follow the ESC's recommendations from the manufacturer. It doesn't matter if you are only pulling 60A from a 100A ESC if the ESC is overheating. All ESC ratings are provided with a certain amount of airflow over the ESC to remove waste heat. Keep an eye on ripple voltage. Maintaining a good battery pack is also very critical for the ESC. A battery pack that deliver a healthy amount of current will help reduce ripple voltage prolonging the life of your ESC. Increasing the length of wire between the ESC and battery can destroy your ESC. Avoid lengthening these wires.
