Nossos Genes | Genoma USP lança projeto de aconselhamento genético para casais antes da gravidez

Dreaming of having children? Our Genes wants to support you before you get pregnant. Did you know that some genetic diseases can appear in a child even if the mother and father have no symptoms? The Our Genes project, led by the Center for Human Genome Studies and Advanced Therapies at USP (Genoma USP), invites Brazilian couples who wish to have biological children in the coming years to participate in pioneering research on Brazilian genetics and recessive inherited diseases. Through genetic testing and genetic counseling consultations, the project seeks to identify couples with an increased chance of having children with recessive genetic diseases and offer information that can assist in family planning before pregnancy. In addition to benefiting participants, the project will help expand knowledge about the genetics of the Brazilian population and produce evidence that can guide future public health policies. 💙💛 Our Genes The project investigates the chance of couples having children with recessive genetic diseases before pregnancy and offers information for family planning. 📍 Partner locations to date: • São Paulo (SP) – USP • Brasília (DF) – UnB • Salvador (BA) – UFBA • Vitória (ES) – UFES 💑 Who can participate?
