Scenic Alpine Drive in North Italy from Domodossola to Alta Valsesia via Lake Orta | 4K HDR

A Continuous Journey through the Ossola Valley, Cusio Region, and Valsesia via the SP299. This point-of-view (POV) scenic drive documents a continuous alpine transit through northern Italy, originating in the historic hub of Domodossola and concluding at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif in Alta Valsesia. Filmed in Spring 2025 as part of an alpine hiking series, the real-time driving footage is presented in 4K HDR and with ambient driving soundtrack. The journey begins in the Ossola Valley at Domodossola, traveling south along the main valley corridor via the Strada Statale 33 (SS33) and regional roads. The route transitions into the Cusio region, passing through Omegna at the northern tip of Lake Orta. From the lake basin, the drive heads southwest across forested hills and mountain foothills to enter the lower Valsesia Valley. Here, the route merges onto the Strada Provinciale 299 (SP299), the primary arterial road running parallel to the Sesia River. As the SP299 heads north, the road gradually ascends through Varallo and past traditional stone-built settlements and terraced mountainsides. Nearing the upper reaches of the valley, the terrain becomes increasingly rugged, characterized by steep ridgelines, glacial waterfalls, and views of snow-dusted peaks. The drive concludes within the Parco Naturale Alta Valsesia, Europe’s highest natural park—terminating at the traditional Walser village of Alagna Valsesia at the base of Monte Rosa.
