O Dia Aberto nas Marinhas de Sal atraiu muitos visitantes ao Ecomuseu da Troncalhada

The Open Day at the Salt Pans: Botadela 2026, taking place today between 6:30 am and 6 pm, transformed the Troncalhada Ecomuseum and participating salt pans into a true stage for celebrating Aveiro's salt-producing heritage. This year's edition stood out for the strong community participation and the diversity of activities, which allowed visitors to immerse themselves in the culture, nature, and traditions linked to the salt harvest. The morning began serenely with a sunrise yoga session, creating a tranquil atmosphere that marked the start of the program. Throughout the day, the salt pans opened their doors for hands-on salt-making experiences, allowing participants to learn firsthand about ancestral techniques and the effort involved in the artisanal production of salt. At the same time, the CMIA promoted birdwatching sessions, while Lísia Lopes guided a photographic tour that captured the unique beauty of the salt pans. The cultural entertainment was equally remarkable. The Quinta do Picado Band paraded through Rossio Square to Rua do Sal, filling the route with music and movement. CETA presented a theatrical performance that offered new perspectives on the territory and its history. Walks, guided tours of biodiversity, dances, songs, and a parade of traditional costumes reinforced the connection between the community and its roots in a vibrant and participatory environment. The event featured the collaboration of various groups and confraternities, such as the Barrocas Scenic and Ethnographic Group, the Cantares da Ria Group, the “São Bernardo a Cantar” Group, the Aveiro Ovos Moles Confraternity, the São Gonçalo Gastronomic Confraternity, the São Gonçalinho Stewardship, and the Aveiro University Men's Tuna. The presence of these entities enriched the program and reinforced the community character of the celebration, valuing traditions that remain alive in the territory. The event concluded with the traditional Botadela dinner (lunch) at the Ecomuseum's salt marsh, bringing together participants, visitors, and organizations for a convivial gathering marked by the region's local flavors. The saltworks Santiago da Fonte, Grã-Caravela, Senitra, Pajota, Noeirinha, and Cachinha da Prumaceira promoted activities related to the salt harvest, while the restaurants Salpoente, Mercantel, Porta 36, and Vinte & 4 celebrated the occasion with special menus. The Municipality thanked all the entities involved and highlighted the importance of keeping this celebration alive, which honors the salt-producing heritage, biodiversity, and cultural identity of Araras.
