The Lubomirski Castle is a magnate residence with the character of a palazzo in fortezza, located in the center of Rzeszów. The first defensive construction in this location likely appeared in the 16th century. Later, at the end of the same century, Mikołaj Spytek Ligęza built his defensive residence in Rzeszów. In 1620, he expanded it in the palazzo in fortezza style. Since 1637, the castle has been owned by the Lubomirski family. In 1820, the complex was taken over by Austrian authorities and adapted for judicial and prison purposes. Only the gate tower and bastion fortifications have been preserved in their historical form to the present day. Until recently, the castle served as a court. The new flagship building of Rzeszów is the Olszynki Park Tower on Kilara Street, offering views of the city from a height of about 180 meters. Upon completion, it will be the tallest residential building in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship and the third tallest residential building in Poland (after Wrocław's Sky Tower and Warsaw's Złota 44). The city center, the Wisłok boulevards, Lubomirski Castle, and most of the other characteristic buildings of Rzeszów are perfectly visible from the top.
