After weeks of debating whether to head back towards Scotland, I unexpectedly found myself back in North Devon. The plan was simple: catch up with family, get the van serviced and MOT'd, and decide where to travel next in my search for a home. Instead, a failed prop shaft and an expensive repair bill brought the house hunt to a temporary halt. Spending longer in Devon than planned gave me time to reflect on a place I once thought I might settle. Returning to old walks, revisiting familiar places and looking at what my budget can realistically buy here has reminded me of both the things I loved... and the reasons I left. This episode isn't really about a house.
