The Sunburst Hybrid - Mallee Burl Woodturning

In this woodturning video, I take on the challenge of wood turning a breathtaking vase from Australian Mallee Burl, enhancing the turning with sunbirst colours and orange-infused clear resin. This woodturning project proved to be incredibly demanding, requiring over 200 hours of meticulous work spread across four months. After battling flood coating issues to experimenting with lacquer, I ultimately decided to cut back the finish, sand to a fine 4000 grit, and polish the vase and resin with compound and polishing wheels. This final step delivered the brilliant, polished finish I had envisioned from the start. Anyone working with clear epoxy resin knows the challenges involved and the frustration when woodworking doesn't go as planned.
