Air India Flight 101 is a designated international flight number operated by Air India, historically and presently associated with long-haul routes between India and destinations in Europe or North America. In modern aviation, it has typically been assigned to flights such as Delhi to New York or Mumbai to London, operated by wide-body aircraft like the Boeing 777 or Boeing 787. However, the flight number is most widely remembered due to a tragic incident on January 24, 1966, when a Boeing 707 aircraft named Kanchenjunga, operating as Flight 101 from Bombay to London via Beirut and Geneva, crashed into Mont Blanc in the French Alps. All 117 people aboard were killed, including Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, a prominent Indian nuclear physicist.
