Vie sauvage : les loutres des Shetlands

The Shetland Islands are home to the largest population of otters in Europe. Yet despite their numbers, these animals remain extremely secretive and difficult to observe. Narrated by Brydon Thomason, a Shetland resident who has been tracking otters for over thirty years, this film explores the lives of these fascinating creatures. Thomason, an expert on local otter behaviour, reveals their habits and daily struggles. Otters, a species with constant challenges, live by strict rules. The mother plays a key role in raising her young, teaching them to hunt, fish and dive before preparing them for independence. But once their male cubs are adults, she pushes them away from the nest, while remaining close to her daughters. This film tells the poignant story of a family of otters trying to survive in the harsh conditions of the northern islands of Scotland. Director: Jacqueline Farmer
